What's bakuchiol and why is it amazing for your skin?
Bakuchiol is a powerful, natural plant-derived skincare ingredient that has its roots in Chinese medicine. It is found in the seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant. Bakuchiol has been proven to provide many anti-aging benefits for the skin. It’s an antioxidant that reduces skin discoloration, and it has a soothing effect. Most importantly, it has been proven in randomized, double-blind studies to “significantly” reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Should you use bakuchiol or retinol?
Serums that contain retinol, a synthetic anti-aging ingredient, often come with side effects like skin dryness, uncomfortable firmness, redness, skin flaking, and even pain. By contrast, serums that contain bakuchiol (instead of retinol) come with none of these issues. Bakuchiol has no known side effects. Green shipping. Even though it's impossible for us to guarantee their effectiveness, we work with partners who offset our packages not just through one, but three programs. First, via the Shop Pay function that supports CO2 capture and removal. Second, via our partnership with Pachama that protects part of the rain forest. Third, we plant one mangrove tree for every order. We also use only plastic-free shipping materials: just cardboard, kraft paper, and kraft tape.
Zero-waste packaging. All of our natural soaps are available in zero-waste glass bottles. Yaya Maria's products are available at zero-waste stores throughout the US. We offer a closed-loop program that allows stores to return empty containers for refilling.
