You’d think a “vegan” label on a brand’s website would be enough — but it’s not always that simple. In my research I’ve seen brands claim to be vegan and still list lanolin as an ingredient in their lipstick. Another brand promoted itself as vegan while selling wool dryer balls. When I asked about these contradictions, responses ranged from “we’re vegan except for…” to silence. Maybe it’s a miscommunication or an out-of-date claim; or an oversight or an overly eager customer service representative. Either way, it makes it hard for shoppers who want products they can trust.
That’s why we do things differently. We verify vegan claims directly with brand owners and require a written attestation confirming that everything they sell — every product, every sub-brand, and any parent company — is 100% vegan and cruelty-free according to our standard:
- No ingredients derived from animals, insects, birds, or fish.
- No testing on animals, insects, birds, or fish (except voluntary humans).
We go the extra mile so you don’t have to. When we label a product vegan, we’ve confirmed it...in writing...with the brand. Our mission is simple: only list products from companies where both genuinely meet our vegan and cruelty-free definition.
If you’ve ever been burned by a misleading claim, we understand — and we’re here to make ethical shopping straightforward and trustworthy.
